Baby-Nurse needed Coral Gables, Florida

Family seeks a short-term (up to six months), qualified baby nurse to work full-time during the day to care for their newborn son. The candidate should have extensive experience with newborns and must be diligent, thorough, reliable, self-motivated, detail-oriented, gentle, patient, positive, and caring. The candidate must have a pleasant disposition. The candidate must have a team-player attitude, and must be willing to both take direction from the parents and current nursing staff as well as offer her own methods so that the best quality of care can be provided to the baby.

The candidate should also have experience with sleep training, teething, milestone development and encouragement, and soothing, among other activities. The candidate must be willing and able to follow a schedule and keep a log. The candidate must stay up to date on ever-changing childcare and medicinal developments.

The candidate must be able to travel out of town with the family and accompany the family on errands, appointments, and activities.

Schedule: 40 hours a week. Mostly weekdays. Flexible hours: 8:30am-4:30pm, 10am-6pm, or 10:30am-6:30pm depending on the family’s needs.


  • Feeding
  • Bathing
  • Cleaning, sterilizing, and preparing bottles
  • Manage breast-milk storage
  • Clean/sterilize pumping supplies
  • Follow a schedule for sleeping, meals, nap and play-time
  • Laundering infant clothing and linens, including washing, drying, folding, and putting away
  • Organize nursery
  • Keeping the nursery tidy
  • Changing linens
  • Maintaining all supplies
  • Restocking baby care items
  • Emptying diaper containers
  • Keeping the infant play areas and bathroom tidy
  • Anticipate age-appropriate needs (clothing, toys, vacation necessities, etc)
  • Keeping age-appropriate toys safe, clean, and in good working order
  • Keeping a daily journal of schedules, moods, and sleeping, eating, and bathroom habits
  • Running infant related errands as directed
  • Transporting infant to activities and appointments as agreed upon by the parent
  • Assist in weaning onto solid foods
  • Prepare meals for the baby
  • Pack/unpack diaper bags when preparing for an outing
  • Pack/unpack baby’s bags for vacation/travel
  • Anticipate and plan for all baby needs for vacation/travel
  • Anticipate and encourage milestone development
  • Walk baby in stroller
  • Engage in age-appropriate play time
  • Soothe to sleep & sing
  • Tend to household pet when requested (feed and let out for potty)
  • Keep common areas tidy after use by caretaker/baby
  • Detailed communication with parents and night staff
  • Parent may request that caretaker provides daily end-of-day report via email (bullet points of key happenings of the day)

Job Requirements;

  • Experience as a Newborn Care Specialist/Baby Nurse
  • Verifiable References
  • Able to travel with family
  • Able to swim
  • English speaker
  • Good communicator
  • CPR, First Aid Certification

Compensation:  Starts at $20 per hour plus, for the right candidate.
